Join Allergy & Asthma Network May 11 – 17, 2025, for Food Allergy Awareness Week (FAAW).

Food Allergy Awareness Week is dedicated to raise awareness, share support, and take action for the millions of people living with food allergies. Whether you’re living with food allergies or supporting someone who is, here are 9 impactful ways you can get involved:

  1. Share your story. Share your experience of life with food allergies on social media, using the hashtag #FAAW – and tag us @AllergyAsthmaHQ. If you tag us, we will reshare it on our social media accounts!
  2. Become a food allergy patient expert. Take this time to boost your knowledge and learn all you can about food allergies! Get detailed info on symptoms, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of food allergies. You can also learn about the different types of food allergies and how they can affect people differently.
  3. Take action to restore the NACP: support lifesaving asthma programs. Many people with food allergies also have asthma. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is facing workforce reductions and the closing of the CDC’s National Asthma Control Program (NACP). NACP has lowered ER visits and improved care across the U.S. since 1999. We need your voice to bring back the NACP! Tell Congress to reinstate the program and protect asthma care for all. Spread awareness about this to family and friends along with our other federal campaigns!
  4. Be prepared: Epi First. Epi Fast. Learn how to properly use epinephrine — either an epinephrine autoinjector or nasal spray. It can save a life during anaphylaxis, a severe allergic reaction that requires timely treatment with epinephrine. Share this lifesaving info with your friends and family.
  5. Go viral with awareness: Use our May Awareness Month Toolkit to find shareable graphics and images for social media related to Food Allergy Awareness Week.
  6. Master food label reading: Label reading can be tricky because some food allergens are listed under different names or within ingredients. Understanding the basics can help you identify foods you can safely eat. Learn what to check for when looking for common food allergens!
  7. Register for our upcoming Anaphylaxis webinar! Don’t miss our June 12th Anaphylaxis: The Changing Treatment Landscape webinar. Join us to learn what steps to take if a life-threatening allergic reaction occurs, whether it’s you or a loved on. Can’t make the webinar? Register anyway to receive our resources and the recording afterwards.
  8. Share resources: Learn about food insecurity and why it is more common in people with food allergies. Find out about nationwide and local food pantries, food banks and other nutrition assistance resources and share the information in your community.
  9. Support Allergy & Asthma Network: Show your support for asthma and allergy outreach, education, advocacy and research by making a donation, becoming an advocate, or volunteering your time. Help us continue our important work of raising awareness about food allergies, advocating for those who are affected, and supporting research to find a cure.

Make sure to keep sharing, advocating and raising awareness for people living with asthma, allergies, and related conditions. Check out “14 Ways to Celebrate Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month” to find more ways to celebrate all month long.

We appreciate you celebrating and raising awareness for Food Allergy Awareness Week!
